Look, We Get It
Nobody really wants to read through pages of legal jargon, but here's the deal - we're an architecture firm, not a data mining operation. When you reach out to us about designing your dream space or working on a commercial project, we collect some basic info. That's it. We're not selling your email to spam bots or tracking your every move online.
This policy basically explains what we do with your contact details, project information, and how we keep everything secure. We've tried to keep it straightforward because honestly, our passion is designing buildings, not crafting complicated privacy documents.
What Information We Actually Collect
When you fill out a contact form, send us an email at info@luminarforgequint.info, or give us a call at (416) 555-0194, here's what we might gather:
- Your name and how to reach you (email, phone number)
- Project details you share with us - like what you're looking to build or renovate
- Your property address if you're talking about a specific site
- Budget ranges and timeline expectations
- Any documents or images you send our way during consultations
We also use basic website analytics to see which pages people visit most. No creepy tracking stuff though - just general numbers that help us figure out if anyone's actually reading our sustainability page (we hope so, that's kind of our thing).
How We Use Your Info
Pretty straightforward here. We use what you give us to:
- Actually respond to your inquiries - wild concept, right?
- Develop project proposals and architectural designs specific to your needs
- Send you relevant updates about your project (we won't spam you with random stuff)
- Keep records for our internal project management
- Meet legal requirements like building permits and certifications
- Occasionally send newsletters if you've opted in - and you can opt out anytime
We've been doing this since we opened our doors on Queen Street West, and protecting client confidentiality has always been part of the job. Your residential project details stay private, your commercial plans don't get leaked to competitors.
Who We Share Information With
We're not in the business of selling your data. Period. However, architecture isn't a solo sport, so sometimes we need to share relevant information with:
- Engineers, contractors, and consultants working on your specific project
- Municipal authorities for permits and approvals (they require it, not us)
- Green building certification bodies when we're pursuing LEED or other sustainability credentials
- Our legal and accounting professionals (they're bound by confidentiality too)
Everyone we work with signs non-disclosure agreements. We take that seriously because Toronto's architecture community is tight-knit, and reputation matters.
Cookies & Website Tech Stuff
Our website uses some basic cookies - mostly to remember if you've visited before and to keep the site functioning properly. We're not using them to build a profile on you or serve targeted ads.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings if that makes you more comfortable. The site will still work, though you might have to re-enter some preferences each time you visit.
How We Protect Your Information
We use industry-standard security measures - encrypted email communications, secure servers, password-protected systems. Our office at 1247 Queen Street West, Suite 302 has locked file cabinets for physical documents (yeah, we still deal with some paper in this business).
Our team is trained on privacy practices, and only people who actually need access to your information get it. The intern sorting mail doesn't have access to client project files, for example.
Your Rights & Choices
Under Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA, specifically), you've got rights:
- You can ask to see what information we have about you
- You can request corrections if something's wrong
- You can ask us to delete your info (though we might need to keep some stuff for legal or contractual reasons)
- You can opt out of marketing emails at any time
- You can file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you think we've messed up
Just shoot us an email or give us a call. We'll handle it within a reasonable timeframe - usually within 30 days, though complex requests might take a bit longer.
Project Portfolio & Case Studies
Sometimes we like to showcase our work on our website or in presentations. Before we ever publish photos, drawings, or details about a completed project, we get explicit permission from our clients. If you don't want your project featured, that's totally fine - no pressure, no hard feelings.
For any published case studies, we can anonymize details if you prefer. Some clients love the exposure, others value their privacy. Both are cool with us.
How Long We Keep Your Information
For active projects, we keep everything until completion plus a few years for warranty and liability purposes. That's pretty standard in the architecture world.
If you inquire but don't end up working with us, we'll typically keep your initial contact info for about a year in case you change your mind, then we purge it from our systems.
Completed project files get archived for around 10 years to comply with professional regulations and in case any questions come up down the road.
Third-Party Links
Our website might link out to suppliers, product manufacturers, or other resources we think are useful. Once you click away from our site, you're under their privacy policies, not ours. We try to link to reputable sources, but we can't control what they do with your data.
Changes to This Policy
We might update this privacy policy occasionally - usually when laws change or we add new services. We'll post the updated version here with a new date at the top. If there are major changes, we'll send a heads-up to active clients.
We're not gonna change our core approach though. We're architects who respect client confidentiality. That's been our practice since day one and it'll stay that way.
Questions or Concerns?
If something in this policy doesn't make sense, or if you've got specific questions about how we handle your information, just reach out. We'd rather have a straightforward conversation than have you wondering.
